Nomination charms and Composable bracelets at Argento

Nomination was founded near Florence in 1983, and in 1987 it designed the piece it is still best known for: the Composable bracelet. Every link is its own small piece of Italian design, and the bracelet is built one link at a time, so no two ever turn out quite the same. A letter for a name, a birthstone for a birthday, a little paw print for the dog who runs the house: it becomes a lovely record of the people and moments that matter to the person wearing it.

How the Composable bracelet works

A Composable bracelet is a row of interlocking stainless steel links. To add a charm, you take out one plain link and clip the charm into its place, so the bracelet stays the same size however many charms it carries.

  • Choose a starter bracelet in stainless steel, gold, rose gold, gunmetal or matte black. Every link is 1cm wide.
  • Pick a size. Our starter bracelets come in 14, 16 and 18 links, and links can be taken out to make a bracelet smaller.
  • Add your first charm. Starter bracelets are sold with at least one charm, so you have something to wear from day one.
  • Keep the plain links you swap out. Once you have enough of them, they make the start of a second bracelet.

Almost every charm we stock belongs to Nomination's Classic Composable range, which fits all of our starter bracelets. Nomination also make a Big Composable range: the links are the same width but taller, so Classic and Big charms do not sit together on one bracelet.

Gold, silver or rose gold?

The base of every Composable link is stainless steel, and the decorative face is where the character comes in: sterling silver, 18ct gold, rose gold tones, colourful enamel and sparkling cubic zirconia. Plenty of people mix metals on one bracelet, and it looks beautiful. If you are buying for someone who only wears one metal, each product page lists the exact materials.

Personalised and engraved Nomination charms

We engrave Nomination engravable plate charms in house. Add a name, a date or a short message, or upload a handwritten note and we will engrave it in the handwriting of the person who wrote it. It is one of the most thoughtful gifts we make. Engraved charms are made to order, so allow a little extra time in the run up to Christmas. Personalised pieces cannot be returned unless they are faulty.

Delivery is free on all Nomination orders to the UK and Ireland, with no minimum spend. You have 90 days to return or exchange anything unworn (14 days for sale items, and personalised pieces are excluded). Under Nomination's brand guidelines, discount and voucher codes cannot be used on Nomination products.

What is a Nomination Composable bracelet?

It is a bracelet built from individual interlocking links that you choose yourself. You start with a base bracelet of plain stainless steel links, then swap those links for decorative charms: letters, birthstones, symbols, engraved plates.

Charms can be added, moved, or changed at any point, which is why so many people build a bracelet up over years rather than buying it all at once.

How many charms fit on a Nomination bracelet?

As many as the bracelet has links. Each charm replaces one plain link, so a 16 link bracelet can carry up to 16 charms and stays the same size as it fills up.

Most people start with one to three charms and add more for birthdays, Christmas and milestones.

How do I choose the right Nomination bracelet size?

Measure your wrist with a tape measure or a strip of paper, then choose the size closest to that measurement. A Composable bracelet should sit snugly, with no gaps between the links.

Composable bracelets are sized by the number of links, and links can be removed to make one smaller. If you are between sizes, our teams size bracelets in store every day across our 25 stores in the UK and Ireland.

How do I add or remove a Nomination charm?

Composable links clip on and off by hand, so you do not need tools or a jeweller. Hold the bracelet flat, ease the link apart gently at the join, slide it into place, and press it closed.

What are Nomination charms made from?

The base link of a Composable charm is stainless steel. The decorative front varies by design: 18ct gold, sterling silver, enamel, cubic zirconia, or a combination of these.

Each product page lists the exact materials for that charm, which is worth checking if you are buying for someone who prefers a particular metal.

Are Nomination Classic and Big charms interchangeable?

No. Classic and Big links are the same width, but Big links are taller, so they do not sit neatly together on one bracelet.

Almost all of the charms we stock are Classic, which fit every starter bracelet we sell.

Do Nomination charms fit a Pandora bracelet?

No. Nomination charms are links that clip into a Composable bracelet, while Pandora charms thread onto a chain, so the two systems are not interchangeable.
